Rebecca, a caring and active child who was born in Ireland and grew up in California, moved with her family to Sweden at the age of 11. She grew up to be an ambitious outgoing perfectionist who longed to graduate and spread her wings around the world.
By 2014 she had spent 15 years in the International Sales and Marketing industry, in global companies, working long hours with high end clientele, traveling, attending award shows and trade shows, hosting client entertainment, events, conferences, budget meetings, quarterly & annually reports. This felt exhilarating to her as she grew in knowledge and experience through her career in Europe, including, a socially fun-filled life. Then in April (2014), life took a real turn and she had a complete burnout. However looking at this in hindsight it had been coming for some time. She had been going to the doctors for almost a year, having severe headaches, difficulty with her eyesight, impaired concentration, fatigue etc. all signs of burnout. They discussed stress, chronic fatigue and ran all kinds of tests. Ultimately she was diagnosed with depression and burnout. She struggled to understand the implications and truth behind this. She physically couldn't get out of bed for months, her body and central nervous system shut down completely. With no body strength, ability to concentrate or express emotions and memory loss, days turned into months. She was losing hair and simple daily tasks of getting out of bed or taking a shower was a challenge fueled by tears. Once strong enough both mentally and physically she began taking short walks that turned into daily excursions. Rebecca was lucky enough to recuperate in nature, with various treatments and in her own time. But it took a long time. During this time of rehabilitation, she was taking classes in breathing techniques, relaxation therapy, mindfulness and recovery yoga. Rebecca noticed a change in her thought process and came to the conclusion that she wanted to do something with passion from her heart! When finally feeling confident and comfortable she went back to the gym which she used to frequent. She knew this meant a fresh start, whilst accepting and understanding her limits with focus on her health, nutrition and balance in life. Rebecca set her goal and took the necessary steps to get there. She was able to finally follow her heart and true passion and started school again at Sverigehalsan, Stockholm to become the following: |
